Girls swimming: Mesa handles Laguna Beach

LAGUNA BEACH - The Costa Mesa High girls swim team used its

three-headed monster to fight off host Laguna Beach, 96-72, Wednesday, in

Pacific Coast League action.

Wendy Martinovich, Jody Martinovich and Erin Bayes each won two events

for the Mustangs (6-1, 3-1). Wendy Martinovich took first in the 200-yard

freestyle (2:14.01) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.04), while her sister,

Jody, won the 200 individual medley (2:21.03) and the 500 free (5:39.45).

Bayes was the top swimmer in the 50 free (25.68) and the 100 free

(57.60), while sophomore Megan Devey was a winner in the 100 back

(1:14.59).

The Mustangs will take on CdM following Spring Break.
