Pirates take Rangers

The bat of Billy Marion went a long way Saturday for the Pirates,

who rode hit offensive performance to a 10-7 victory over the Rangers in

Ocean View Little League Minor A Division action.

Marions singled twice, doubled, and finished with two RBI to pace the

Pirates on offense, while Finn Jensen pitched two solid innings to help

keep the Rangers in check.

The Pirates scored two runs in each of their five innings on offense.

Reds 7, Pirates 6

In a showdown for first place, the pitching of Albert Breitwieser and

Daniel Williams helped the Reds get by the Pirates.

Reds 8, Tigers 3

Ian Cable singled and doubled, and Garrett Shinn’s pitching, helped the

Reds retain a share of first place in the division.

Red Sox 8, Brewers 3

Michael Murray singled twice, Justin Pack doubled, and Tom Greiner threw

four shutout innings to lead the Red Sox; the Brewers were led by Philip

Cobb and Scott Baxter, each of whom finished with two hits.

Brewers 13, Tigers 3

Aaron Chatigny, Scott Baxter, and Danny Hall each had two hits, and

Baxter also struck out seven in three innings pitched for the Brewers.

MINOR B DIVISION

Expos 19, Astros 3

Cory Walk had a home run among three hits, Jeff Falfas hit an

inside-the-park home run and finished with five RBI, and the pitching of

David Van Doornum and Eric Moss helped the Expos run away with the

victory.

Rockies 10, Pirates 9

Matt McWilliams pitched his way out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom

of the sixth inning to get the win, and Kevin Mackey led all hitters with

three hits.

Orioles 3, Angels 2

Riley Kuhl had two RBI, Alex Nordin scored twice, and the combined

pitching of Hayden Toney, Scott Kelly, and Slater Davis helped get the

Orioles past the Angels.
