Women’s tennis: Lions fall to Westmont

SANTA BARBARA - The Vanguard University women’s tennis team was
defeated by host Westmont, 8-1, Saturday, in Golden State Athletic
Conference action.
The doubles team of Lindsay Doyal and Megan Godfrey were the lone winners
for the Lions (2-13, 1-8 in conference), winning, 9-8.

Singles - Doyal (VU) lost to Smith, 2-6, 1-6; Godfrey (VU) lost to
McMellson, 2-6, 1-6; Martinez (VU) lost to Crist, 0-6, 0-6; Speer-Pardee
(VU) lost to Sheldon, 0-6, 0-6; Boyd (VU) lost to Baker, 1-6, 0-6; Ferree (VU) lost to Bere, 2-6, 2-6.
Doubles - Doyal-Godfrey (VU) def. McMellson-Sheldon, 9-8; Martinez-Ferree
(VU) lost to Smith-Crist, 1-8; Speer-Pardee-Boyd (VU) lost to Baker-Bere,
0-8.
