Men’s tennis: Lions clinch GSAC with win

COSTA MESA - The Vanguard University men’s tennis team won the
Golden State Athletic Conference title Friday with a 5-4 victory over
visiting Azusa Pacific.
Joakim Ulfvebrand and Martin Makovec were each straight-set winners in
singles action, before getting together and knocking off their doubles
opponent, 8-5.
The win improves the Lions, ranked No. 3 in the NAIA, to 18-2, 7-0 in the GSAC.
Azusa Pacific came into Friday’s competition ranked No. 7 in the country.
The Lions will wrap up GSAC play with a match against Westmont today.
