Softball: CdM wins PCL opener

CORONA DEL MAR - Corona del Mar High’s softball team won its first
league game in three years with a 10-5 Pacific Coast League victory over
visiting Laguna Beach in its PCL opener.
The Sea Kings (4-5, 1-0 in league), who didn’t have a softball team for
the past two years, got big performances from their freshmen. Alissa
Zoelle pitched a complete game for the win. She also went 3 for 3 at the
plate with two RBIs. Catcher Amy Tyson hit a triple and a double, and
Lauren Loe went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Junior Mijanou Pham hit a two-run
double for CdM.
The Sea Kings continue PCL play Thursday against Northwood. Laguna Beach
falls to 5-7, 0-1 in league.
