Devil Rays, Dodgers romp
The Devil Rays and Dodgers each posted easy victories Thursday in
Fountain Valley Littler League Minor A Division play at Mile Square Park,
and the Mets and Reds also collected key wins to keep pace with their
counterparts.
The Devil Rays routed the Yankees, 13-3, by scoring the game’s final 13
runs after the Yankees had staked their way to a 3-0 advantage through
two innings of play.
The comeback began when both Jason Gorman and Derek Smith produced
run-scoring doubles, then continued with Kevin Smisko’s RBI triple. The
six-run third inning also included an RBI triple by Jared Case, a Kyle
Yoakum triple, and Nelson Aviles’ RBI single.
Smisko also notched the pitching win, striking out 10 in four innings
pitched.
Gordon Edwards singled twice, Barry Neu had an RBI triple, and Danny Dion
had an RBI single for the Yankees.
The Dodgers also romped Thursday, beating the Orioles, 17-3.
The Dodgers scored in every inning on their way to the victory, with Cael
Hill leading the attack with two singles and three RBI, and Jordan Weber
doubled, tripled, and scored four runs.
Daisuke Nishikawa and John Spirk also had key hits for the winners.
Ryan Haskin singled twice and both Jason Swanberg and Trevor Dalbey had
base hits for the Orioles.

Mets 9, Angels 2
Billy Bintner’s three-run home run, the first out of the park homer in
the division this year, keyed a five run first inning for the Mets.
Robert Johnson doubled, Andrew Stadnick and Brett Hill also singled, and
Gabriel Rubio had an RBI for the Mets.
Joshua Miller and Skyler Winston each had RBI doubles to pace the Halos.
Reds 12, Diamondbacks 8
The Reds erased a 7-4 deficit by posting four runs in each of the fourth
and fifth innings. Kris Wysong singled, tripled, and had an RBI, Joseph
Fried hit a two-RBI double, and Garrett DeJong had an RBI single to lead
the Reds.
Ryan McNicol had three hits and three RBI, Marcelino Romero hit an inside
the park home run, and Matt James, Sara Mitchell, and Jonathan Telles
each had to hits for the Diamondbacks.
