JASMINE LEE -- Retail roundup
What would you say if you heard that pajamas are the new look for 2000?
One possible reply: when pigs fly!
Don’t look now, but pigs are flying in P.J. Salvage’s flannel and poplin
pajamas. The Costa Mesa-based women’s lounge wear company, which has been
featured on several television shows, is predicting that as more people
work from home, more folks will be feeling comfortable in their flannels.
The 5-year-old company’s bedtime chic has a “cheeky look” and will
perhaps inspire better job performance.
“More and more people are working out of their homes,” said P.J.
Salvage’s Peter Burke. “And what better way to be productive than to be
wearing comfortable yet attractive PJs while conducting important
conference calls?”
Looking good for diabetes
As always, it is quite fashionable to be charitable.
At “The Art of Fashion” on April 8, you can help children with diabetes
while watching models parade the hottest spring styles.
The Pediatric Adolescent Diabetes Research and Education Foundation is
holding its 11th annual fashion show at Fashion Island in the
Bloomingdale’s courtyard. The proceeds will benefit the foundation -- a
15-year-old organization that supports the Childrens Hospital of Orange
County.
The clothes will be modeled by professionals and by children with
diabetes. Miss America 1999 Nicole Johnson, who has diabetes, will be the
special guest.
The event will begin with a reception from 7 to 7:30 p.m., followed by
dinner. The fashion show and entertainment begins at 9 p.m. Admission is
$75 per person. A sponsorship, which includes a box of 10 seats, may also
be reserved.

Accents toasted for food, wine
Wining and dining is not just a cliche at Accents Restaurant.
The restaurant, at The Sutton Place Hotel in Newport Beach, received the
Golden Sceptre award -- recognizing quality of cuisine and service -- and
the wine excellence award from the Southern California Restaurant Writers
Assn. The restaurant also snagged two three-star awards -- one for
outstanding restaurant and the other for outstanding wine cellar, from
the California Restaurant Writers Assn.
