Region 5 U-10 Gold All-Stars fall

The Region 5 boys Under-10 Gold All-Star team, The Wave, reached
the Final Four of the 2000 Tri-Sectional Championship Tournament in
Whittier, but came up short in its bid to win the tournament title.
Region 5 lost its two games by identical 2-0 scores, falling to eventual
Tri-Section champion Arcadia, as well as Palos Verdes.
Region 5’s appearance in the tournament marked the first time in nearly
10 years that a Fountain Valley team has reached the Tri-Section
tournament, region officials said.
Members of The Wave include Nadeem Abdo, Jon Birt, Jordan Black, Jason
Frazier, Alex Gallardo, Carlitos Garibay, Andrew Kinney, Alex Loeffelman,
Mason Miller, Tom Moua, Mike Nevarez, Danny Shoop, Richie Unfried, Max
Volz, and coaches Jeff Loeffelman and Roger Shoop.

REGION 5 BOYS U-10 SELECT TEAM WINS TWO
The Region 5 boys Under-10 Spring Select team recorded a pair of
victories last week, beating Lake Forest, 8-3, before knocking off Rancho
Santa Margarita, 5-0.
Richie Unfried scored three goals, Jordan Black, Danny Shoop, Nadeem
Abdo, Alvaro Jacobo, and Alex Loeffelman all scored one goal, and Abdo,
Jacobo, Loeffelman, and Mason Miller each had an assist in the Lake
Forest triumph. In blanking Rancho Santa Margarita, Shoop had two
assists, Jacobo scored once, Eric Norberg scored on a penalty kick, and
Unfried scored twice, with one of his goals coming on a header.
HURRICANES 4, ALISO VIEJO 1
Borna Khavari, Andrew Davis, Chris Voss, and Ian Gould all scored, both
David Johnson and Aashik Chela had assists, and goalie Brett Webber had
five saves as the Hurricanes rolled at Peterson Elementary School in
Huntington Beach. The Hurricanes, however, dropped a 2-0 match to San
Juan Capistrano.
