CMNLL: Marlins blank CMALL’s White Sox, 10-0

COSTA MESA - The Costa Mesa National Little League Marlins blanked
the American Little League’s White Sox, 10-0, in a majors’ division
interleague matchup.
Victor Valdez tossed a four-inning no-hitter, while striking out seven.
He also had two inside-the-park home runs and had four RBIs at the plate.
His brother, Vinnie Valdez added two hits and an RBI, while P.J.
Errington (two doubles), Jeremy Spera (RBI single) and Ryan Bagwell
(three hits) also led the Marlins’ attack.
In other CMNLL Majors action:
Dodgers 5, Diamondbacks 4 - Nicholas Smith went 2 for 4 with a run scored
to lead the Dodgers over the D-Backs.
Trailing, 3-1, Ian Abernathy capped off a three-run third inning with a
two-run single, giving the Dodgers the lead for good.
Other offensive stars were Brandon Grimmett, Brian Nobukara, Matt Jeranko
and Brian Sarkey.
Hillary Larson pitched six strong innings, striking out six to earn the
win.
In Minor-A action:
Despite losing to the Devil Rays, there were several solid performances
turned in by the Diamondbacks’ Minor-A club.
Garrick Williams, Michael Gilmore and Cameron Santana each had two hits,
while Steven Dean, Justin Majer and Taylor Brown each added solo hits.
Jonathan Hall and Michael Perez each walked and scored, while Juan Guzman
pitched four innings, striking out seven.
