Angels edge Cardinals

Nick Leone went the distance on the mound Saturday, striking out

11, to lead the Angels to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Cardinals in

Seaview Little League Majors Division action.

David McLaughlin led the Angels offense with a single and walk and scored

both runs, with Sean Richards’ RBI single accounting for one run.

John Whitt went 2 for 3 and Jason Birk, Mike Doran, and Kevin Hammond all

had hits for the Cardinals.

MINOR A DIVISION

Mariners 16, Rockies 1

Winning pitcher Carl Eberts struck out three and allowed just three hits

in going the distance, and also paced the Mariners (3-0) on offense with

a 4 for 4 performance. Jamie Martin, Mike Miner, Patrick Cox, and Regan

Grego each had three hits for the winners.

Pirates 9, Dodgers 5

Chris Poulsen got the pitching win and also had a key hit for the Pirates

(2-0); for the Dodgers (0-3), Jared Gaeta took the first pitch of the

game for a home run and also singled, Joe Keeland tripled, and both

Garrett Archuleta and Cole Farmer doubled.

Angels 8, Yankees 7

Robbie Coutts went 3 for 3 and Alex Johnson delivered a key hit for the

Angels (1-2); Craig Spreeman and Kyle Hammontree each doubled with two

RBI, and pitcher Bree Williston pitched a complete game with 10

strikeouts for the Yankees (1-2).

MINOR B DIVISION

Cubs 18, Tigers 13

Sam Dennis went 3 for 3 for the Cubs; Jordan Luevano had two hits for the

Tigers.

Angels 15, Red Sox 6

Pitcher Rebecca Lesinski recorded six strikeouts and Keaton Celinder went

3 for 3 to lead the Angels.
