Softball: Sailors pull one out

NEWPORT BEACH - Lauren Gallardo’s two-out, two-RBI single in the

bottom of the fifth inning gave Newport Harbor High’s softball team a 6-4

nonleague win over Santa Ana Monday afternoon.

Sabrina Couch and Athena Vasquez each went 2 for 3 for the Sailors, while

Kim Moore went the distance, striking out six to pick up the win.

Newport will travel across the bay to take on rival Corona del Mar today

at 3:15 p.m.
