Prep baseball: Estancia errors spell defeat

FOUNTAIN VALLEY - Two costly errors opened the door for host Los
Amigos High, which scored four unearned runs in the sixth to break open a
scoreless tie and claim a 4-1 nonleague baseball win Wednesday over
Estancia.
A misplayed fly ball to the outfield and another error put the Lobos in
front, dropping the Eagles to 2-3, heading into Friday’s Pacific Coast
League opener at cross-town rival Costa Mesa.
Brent Davis doubled, advanced to third and scored on Jordan Hart’s
groundout for Estancia’s lone run in the seventh, as left-hander Bishop
Griggs pitched a complete-game five-hitter to improve to 2-1. Including
Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Costa Mesa, Lobo pitchers have yielded just one
run their last 14 innings.
David Akiva and C.K. Green pitched effectively for the Eagles. Both
failed to get hits, but Akiva (.563) and Green (.555) are swinging the
hottest Estancia bats entering league.
