Corona del Mar High’s Kevin Hansen and Estancia’s Jon Cantrell will
represent the South boys in the Orange County All-Star Basketball Game,
scheduled April 15 at 8 p.m. Orange Coast College.
Hansen, a 6-foot-4 forward, led the Sea Kings to the Pacific Coast League
title, the CIF Southern Section Division III-AA semifinals and the
Southern California Division III Regional semifinals. He averaged 20.8
points and close to seven rebounds. He was All-CIF as a junior, when he
helped the Sea Kings reach the section III-A final.
Cantrell, a three-year varsity letterman, averaged 16.1 points for the Eagles. He was among the Orange County leaders with 96 three-pointers,
including a school single-season record nine in December against Nogales.
The South boys squad, which also includes PCL MVP Travis Hanour and
Laguna Beach teammate Chris Manker, as well as University standout Andy
Lawrence, will be coached by Roger Holmes of Marina High.
There are no local players in the girls game, which precedes the boys
game at 5 p.m.
