Women’s tennis: OCC bounces back

COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast College women’s tennis team rebounded
from a disappointing loss to Santa Ana Monday to top visiting Fullerton,
5-4, in an Orange Empire Conference match Tuesday.
OCC’s Erica Goode, Sondra McNamara and Merin Yoshida all won singles
matches, while McNamara and Yoshida teamed up to win their singles match.
“It was Goode’s first conference win,” said OCC Coach Janice Maran, who
noted Fullerton trounced Santa Ana, 8-1, last week.
“Sondra was behind in each of her sets, before coming through at the end
(7-5, 6-4). She’s so mentally tough and such a competitor.”
Maran also had praise for Yoshida, a 6-0, 6-4 singles winner, whom Maran
termed a dynamo.
OCC improved to 5-4, 3-3 in conference.
