A grand opening celebration for three galleries and an interior design
studio on Mariners Mile will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, featuring
original paintings and mixed-media works and food and wine from Cafe
Panini.
The Galerie at Newport, which showcases moderately priced colorful,
realist work, is at 2429 W. Coast Highway, Suite 102. Charlotte Jackson
Fine Art, Inc., which features minimal art, is at the same address, Suite
101. DJR International Art, which shows Vietnamese art, is at 2431 W.
Coast Highway, Suite 204. Maison Design Studio, at 2505 W. Coast Highway,
Suite 101, features interior design option.
All four locations are participating in the event.

Three plays on tap for summer at OCC
OCC is planning three productions for its summer theater season.
The college will open the summer season with “The Mineola Twins,” a play
by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Paula Vogel. The show will run June 22
through 25 and June 29 through July 2.
“The Little Prince,” the Rick Cumminns and John Scoullar play based on
Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s famous book, will run July 12 through 15 and
19 through 22.
OCC is also planning a “One-on-One Festival” featuring monologues and
one-person dramas. Works to be presented include Jane Martin’s “Talking
With” and Eric Bogosian’s “Drinking in America.” The festival will run
July 26 through 30 and Aug. 2 through 6.

Auditions for ‘Fools’ to be held at Trilogy
The Trilogy Playhouse will hold auditions for Neil Simon’s comedy “Fools”
from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the theater.
The playhouse needs seven men 25 to 55 years old, two women 35 to 50
years old and one young woman age 17 to 20. All roles are open.
“Fools” is a story about a Russian village that struggles with a curse of
stupidity. The play will run April 27 through May 14.
Trilogy Playhouse is at 2930 Bristol St., Building C-106, Costa Mesa, in

OCC to host best of Banff film screening
A three-hour program of the “best of the best” of the Banff Mountain Film
Festival will come to OCC on March 22 for a special screening.
The screening, to be held at 7 p.m. in the Robert Moore Theatre, will
feature films from Canada, Scotland, Germany and many other countries.
The films range from three to 45 minutes in length and many of them
feature mountain-oriented activities such as climbing and mountain
biking.
