The Orange County Engineering Council has awarded the Engineering Project
Achievement Award to the city of Newport Beach for the design of the
“Arches” interchange.
The interchange, located at the intersection of Newport Boulevard and
Pacific Coast Highway, was the most expensive and complicated public
works contract in Newport Beach history, said Don Webb, Public Works
director for the city.
More than 120,000 cars use the interchange daily.
Design engineer for the project was Moffatt & Nichol Engineers.
Construction engineer was Brutoco Engineering & Construction, Inc.
Webb accepted the achievement award on behalf of the city at a Feb. 26
banquet in Anaheim.
