Bruins get past city rival Chargers

Brian Cranmer scored 14 points and Timmy Mahoney had 12 more to
lead the West Huntington Beach Bruins in a 51-47 victory over the South
Huntington Beach Chargers in a National Junior Basketball Division 2
Championship Series game Sunday.
The Chargers kept things close by hitting five, three-point shots, but
with Adam Pierce scoring 10 points and Scott Melchert adding nine to the
Bruin cause, West Huntington Beach was able to hold on for the victory.

The Surf City Blues jumped out to an 18-5 halftime lead and were never
threatened. Catherine Marcoly scored 10 points, Laura Choate had eight
points, Rachael Maulit came up with eight steals, and Audra Tamuaitis had
seven rebounds for the Blues (10-3), who wrap up their season Sunday
against Dana Point.
