POLICE FILES - March 9, 2000

-- Angelique Flores

Four men kidnapped a Fountain Valley jewelry store worker at gunpoint,

drove his car to the front of the store and tried to rob it, police said.

The 40-year-old Westminster man was driving away from the store on

Martens River Circle when he noticed he had a flat tire at around 6:15

p.m. Friday. The victim pulled over and had just opened the car trunk

when a man about 30 years old approached him. The man held a gun to his

head and demanded the victim’s keys, police said.

Then, three other men joined them. The victim and the men got into the

car and drove back to the jewelry store. There, three of the suspects

exited the car, leaving the first man with the victim at gunpoint, police

said.

The suspects used the victim’s keys to enter the business, which

activated an alarm. All four of the men fled, leaving the victim alone in

the car, police said.

The victim was uninjured, but about $100 in property was taken from him,

said Sgt. Jim Perry of the Fountain Valley Police Department. Nothing was

taken from the business.

Perry said the suspect holding the handgun was wearing a black ski mask

and black shirt.

EMPTY CAR SHOT AT DANCE

Gunshots were fired into an empty car during a Sadie Hawkins dance at

Fountain Valley High School on Saturday night, police said.

A handgun was used to fire several rounds into the vehicle belonging to

one the students, police said. No one was injured. There are no suspects.

The shooting appears to be a random act, authorities said.

Police Department at 593-4485.
