Women’s tennis: Lions doubled up
THOUSAND OAKS - The Vanguard University women’s tennis team
couldn’t find the win column is Saturday’s 6-3 Golden State Athletic
Conference loss to host Cal Lutheran.
Lindsay Doyal and Megan Godfrey each won in singles play, winning all
four sets, then teamed up for an 8-3 doubles action.
The Lions will return home to take on Western New Mexico Friday at 9 a.m.
Singles - Doyal (VU) def. Bensen, 6-1, 6-3; Godfrey (VU) def. Lawson,
6-0, 7-6; Martinez (VU) lost to Stoltenberg, 3-6, 4-6; Speer-Pardee (VU)
lost to Scanlon, 0-6, 0-6; Boyd (VU) lost to Escudero, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6;
Ferree (VU) lost to Hildebrand, 3-6, 2-6.
Doubles - Doyal-Godbey (VU) def. Benson-Stoltenberg, 8-3; Martinez-Ferree
(VU) lost to Lawson-Scanlon, 0-8; Speer-Peree-Boyd (VU) lost to
Escudero-Hildebrand, 3-6, 2-6.
