Baseball: Pirates stranded in OEC opener
COSTA MESA - The heart of Riverside College’s batting drove a stake
through the heart of Orange Coast in Saturday’s 15-4 Orange Empire
Conference baseball opener.
Antoine Cameron, Wayne Stone and Jason Fransz, the 3-4-5 hitters in the
Tigers’ lineup combined for 10 hits, three home runs, eight runs scored
and 12 RBIs.
The lone home run for the Pirates was a two-run shot off the bat of
sophomore Jason Reuss, his fourth of the season.
Riverside jumped out early, scoring seven runs in the first two innings
before OCC could get on the board.
Eric Wiethorn went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI for the Pirates (5-7
overall), who left 11 men on base.
OCC continues its OEC play at home against Santa Ana Tuesday at 2 p.m.
