Baseball: OCC’s Carey almost gets a no-hitter

COSTA MESA - OCC’s Mike Carey carried a no-hitter into the eighth
inning and ended up with a one-hit complete game shutout as the Pirates
blasted Treasure Valley, 8-0, in the first round of the Cy-Coast
Tournament at OCC Friday.
Carey struck out five batters while only walking one. Brian Wahlbrink,
Adam Anderson and Jason Reuss each went 2 for 4 with one RBI for the
Pirates (3-4). Wahlbrink also scored two runs.
In the second round, Southwestern defeated the Pirates, 5-2. Blair Havens
scored one run and had the only RBI for OCC with a triple.
