COSTA MESA - Biola University took advantage of three unearned runs
and defeated Vanguard University, 4-1, in a Golden State Athletic
Conference baseball game Thursday afternoon.
Thursday’s game was a completion of a Feb. 12 doubleheader in which game
two was not completed due to rain.
The Lions (1-6, 1-4 in conference) took the lead in the fifth on an RBI
single by Ryan Dambach, scoring Erik Dodos.
Biola (8-3, 4-1) responded with a solo home run Paul Johnson in the sixth
inning, tying the score.
Anthony Walker was the hard-luck loser for the Lions, allowing only three
hits and one earned run through 6 1/3 innings, while striking out six.
A Vanguard error in the seventh inning led to three unearned runs, giving
Biola the win.
