Pier Pressure puts pressure on opponents

Pier Pressure, a girls Under-12 Gold All-Star team out of Region
56, continued it unbeaten pace at the Area 11-K tournament by winning two
more matches last weekend.
The squad scored identical 2-0 victories over Region 517 (Santa Ana) and
Region 143 (Huntington Beach) to run their tournament record to 6-0. Pier
Pressure is now 13-1-1 overall, and has outscored its opponents, 33-2.
Pier Pressure’s stifling defense and ball control has dominated its foes.
The play of goalkeeper/sweeper Kelly Hyder and defenders Carley
Bonchonsky, Chelsea Kaplan, Mary Horstmann, Keely Miller, and Jesse Miner
have held the All-Stars take command in the tournament. The team’s front
line of Brooke Bashore, Alex Dunn, Candace Mecklenburg, and Lauren
Brancky have paced the offense, and Courtney Lynn, Jessica Jordan, and
Lauren Ardis has controlled the midfield.

The Region 143 Gold All-Star team stayed with its winning ways last
weekend by beating Region 517, 7-0, and Region 5 (Fountain Valley), 2-0,
to run its tournament record to 7-0. A balanced Region 143 has outscored
its seven opponents, 26-1, with 10 players having scored goals: Kirsten
Bolt, Blair Connors, Annita DeGiglio, Nikki Frieborg, Whitney Gueta, Ann
Ludolph, Natalie Meyers, Jessica Shannon, Lauren Swensen, and Krista
Thompson. Defensively, the team is led by Danae Lucas, Erin Silverlake,
Ashley Beanblossom, and goalies Alexandra Jaspers and Kristin Coleman.
