AYSO Region 57: CdM girls win, tie

IRVINE - The Tidal Waves, an AYSO Region 57 girls under 10 all-star
team defeated Newport Beach, 3-0, before tying Tustin, 1-1, in Area Q
all-star playoff action last weekend.
In the win against Newport Beach, Alex Tobiessen scored all three of
CdM’s goals, while Rachel Parker and Colleen Heyler each had assists.
Goalkeeper Jessica Poulsen had numerous saves to preserve the shutout.
Tobiessen scored the lone goal in the tie against Tustin with an assist
coming from Su-Yin Bickner. Poulsen stopped two penalty shots to hold a
1-0 lead before a late Tustin goal evened the score.
Claire Schloemer, Julian Piggot and Kimmy Von der Ahe controlled the
midfield for CdM. Solid defense was provided by Lindsay Seeley, Alison
Luke and Courtney Heard, while forwards Emily Hillgren, Taylor Jones and
Leah Zarian led the offensive attacks.In Division 3 girls action:
The CdM girls under 14 squad won two games last weekend in the Area Q
all-star playoffs, improving its record to 3-1-1.
Elizabeth Almaraz scored two third-quarter goals to lead CdM to a 2-1 win
over Newport Beach.
In game two, Almaraz, Priscilla Swenson and Samantha Burns each scored
for a 3-1 win over Tustin.
Contributing to CdM’s wins were Courtney Carnahan, Brooke Burgner, Kelly
Percival, Kellie Flint, Kate Heeschen, Stephanie Pillsbury, Lauren Kiser,
Mallory Reynolds and Elyse Avila.
