The Wave gets a taste of everything

The Wave, a boys Under-10 All-Star team out of Region 5 (Fountain

Valley), tasted a little bit of everything in last weekend’s Area 11-K

Tournament action at J.R. Peterson Elementary School.

The Wave, which won its first two tournament games, posted a 1-1-1 record

last weekend, battling Region 56 (South Huntington Beach) to a scoreless

tie before defeating Region 117 (Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley), 3-0,

and falling to Region 56 in the teams’ seconds meeting, 3-1.

In the 3-0 shut out of Region 117, Region 5 did all of its scoring the

fourth quarter, with Richie Unfried getting two goals, Nadeem Abdo

scoring once, and Alex Loeffelman assisting one score.

Jon Birt scored an unassisted goal in the 3-1 loss to Region 56, which

now leads second place Region 5 in the standings by a slim two points,

29-27.
