Magic weaves way past Titans

The Magic continues to run away from the rest of the pack in
Fountain Valley National Junior Basketball boys Division I play.
Just ask the Titans, who fell to the unbeaten division leaders, 57-42,
Sunday at Fountain Valley High.
Nguyen Dau topped all scorers with 20 points and also had six steals and
Ricky Hagen finished with 15 points and also six steals as the Magic
improved to 8-0.
The win allowed the Magic to clinch the division’s regular season title.
They lead the division by three games, with just two games remaining on
the regular season schedule.

Hornets 40, Grizzlies 34
Brad Young scored nine points and added nine rebounds and Keith Sinclair
scored eight points as the Hornets avenged an earlier loss to the
Grizzlies, who received 13 points from Robert Hanson and 10 more from
Michael Entin.
DIVISION 2
Red Storm 60, Knicks 24
With all 10 players getting into the scoring act, which was led by Shane
Webber’s eight points, the unbeaten Red Storm moved closer to the
division title by improving to 8-0.
Lakers 37, HB Lakers 23
Fountain Valley pulled away from a halftime tie to defeat their Laker
counterparts from Huntington Beach. Jim Flanagan scored 10 point to go
along with nine rebounds, Michael Almanza had nine points and three
steals, and Taylor Grosso collected 11 rebounds for the winners, who
improved to 7-1.
DIVISION 3
Bulls 38, Ocean View 11
Russell Westphal dropped in 15 points with eight rebounds and Freddie
Pepper added 12 points as the Bulls routed the Raptors.
Sonics 43, Westminster 14
The Sonics handed the Lakers their first loss as Colin Carroll scored 13
points with seven rebounds, Ryan Sharpe scored 12 points with eight
caroms, and Jonathan Perez hauled in 10 rebounds.
6TH-GRADE ALL-NET DIVISION
Fullerton 44, Fountain Valley 43
Fountain Valley trailed 27-9 at the half, only to see a furious second
half rally fall a point short at Troy High. Brandon Duquette scored 17
points, Nathan Morris added 10, and Dylan Macdonald’s defensive play in
the third quarter sparked the Fountain Valley rally.
