WHITTIER - Corona del Mar High girls soccer coach Ron Evans
returned to his former coaching home in impressive fashion Monday, as the
Sea Kings outshot host La Serna, 30-2, en route to a 2-0 nonleague
victory.
Allison Harvey converted a Kate Simon cross for the first goal 25 minutes
in.
Jennifer Long added insurance in the 45th minute, capitalizing on Elisha
Morgan’s assist.
The victory improved CdM, ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division
IV, to 13-4-3.
La Serna fell to 15-4-3. The Lancers, whom Evans coached for three
seasons (1992-95), are No. 8 in CIF Division II.
CdM, which has outshot its last two opponents, 77-3, can earn the Pacific
Coast League crown today with a win or tie at University.
“I really thought we played well,” Evans said.
