Girls water polo: Mesa finishes 28th
CORONA DEL MAR - Costa Mesa High’s girls water polo team dropped
its final two games in the Irvine Southern California Championships
Saturday at Corona del Mar to finish 28th out of 32 teams.
In the 25th-place semifinal game, the Mustangs (7-17) lost 5-2 to Long
Beach Poly, an opponent Mesa played for the third time. Shayna Kline got
both of Mesa’s goal. In the 27th-place game, Laguna Hills beat the
Mustangs, 9-4. Katy Petersen, Erin Bayes, Jody Martinovich and Dana
Steenhard got the Mesa goals. Goalie Casey Petersen made 11 saves for the Mustangs.
