CORONA DEL MAR - Corona del Mar High’s girls water polo team
limited Villa Park’s offense. But the Spartans, ranked No. 4 in CIF
Southern Section Division I, completely shut down the host Sea Kings’
offense for a 3-1 win in the Irvine Southern California Championships
Friday.
CdM, 13-10 and ranked No. 4 in Division IV, will face Canyon in the 13th
place semifinal at Irvine, 9 a.m.
Except for UCLA-bound two-meter player Krystan Pulver, who scored twice
in the second half, Villa Park (17-5) had trouble against CdM’s defense.
CdM goalie Arin Hendrickson made 10 saves.
But the Sea Kings failed to get a goal until the fourth quarter, when
freshman Danielle Carlson scored.
