Men’s basketball: Vanguard comes up short
RIVERSIDE - The Vanguard University men’s basketball team received
a huge offensive night from John Kohlhaas, but it still wasn’t enough.
The junior scored 37 points, but the Lions still lost to host Cal
Baptist, 95-88, in a Golden State Athletic Conference matchup Thursday
night.
Kohlhaas was 12 of 17 shooting from the field, including three
three-pointers and 10 of 11 from the free-throw line. He also pulled down
seven rebounds and had two assists.
Dennis Keane added 13 points for the Lions, while Brandon Cablay had 10.
In a much more balanced attack, Olin Simplis had 25 points and 14
rebounds for the Lancers, who had all five starters score in double
digits.
The Lancers led by five at the half, 47-42, and outscored the Lions at
the free-throw line, 25-18, for the game.
