Toshiba Senior Classic: Kite, Wadkins commit
Richard Dunn
NEWPORT BEACH - Tom Kite and Lanny Wadkins, 2000 Senior PGA Tour
newcomers, are among the early player commitments for the Toshiba Senior
Classic March 3-5 at Newport Beach Country Club.
Kite, the 1992 U.S. Open champion and two-time leading money winner on
the PGA Tour, and Wadkins, who won the ’77 PGA Championship and 20 other
PGA Tour titles, will join crowd favorites Lee Trevino and Chi Chi
Rodriguez in the sixth Toshiba Classic.
Bob Murphy, the ’97 Toshiba champion, will not play because of a
television commitment with NBC. Jeff Purser, tournament director, said
there’s a “good possibility” Arnold Palmer, 70, will make his Toshiba
debut this year.
