Women’s basketball: OCC’s streak ends at 18

COSTA MESA - Orange Coast College women’s basketball team saw its
18-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of visiting Santa Ana
College, 72-69, in Wednesday night’s Orange Empire Conference action.
The winning streak was the longest in the school’s history, surpassing
the 1992-93 mark of 15 in a row.
Sarah Middlebrooke led the Pirates (20-2, 4-1 in conference) with 16
points, while Leah Wilde added 14 and Karyn Fierst had 12.
Santa Ana (18-2, 5-0) jumped out to a 12-point lead after the first half
and hung on for the win.
Atari Parker led the Lions with 28 points, while Stephanie Patten chipped
in with 15.
OCC, ranked No. 3 in the state, returns to OEC action Friday at 7:30 p.m.
against Saddleback.
