We asked second- and third-graders at Costa Mesa’s College Park
Elementary School last week who their role models were and why. Here’s
what they had to say:
“My role model is Jeff Gordon, he drives a NASCAR race car. He wins a lot
of times. I also like his car.”
EMMANUEL TANOPO, 8
Costa Mesa
“My role model is a wrestler. His name is kind of long. His name is
‘Stone Cold.’ I like one of his moves. He always wins when he does that
move. But sometimes he gets mad because other wrestlers, like ‘Triple H,’
make fun of his name.”
HECTOR SOLIS, 8
Costa Mesa
“My teacher, Miss Schwerin, because she is a good reader. She picks out
good books. She is athletic. She is a good person. She is the kind of
teacher I would like to be when I grow up. When I told her this she
started crying.”
DANIELLE BOWEN, 7
Costa Mesa
“My mom is my role model because she is really nice. She is a good
artist. She helps me with my homework. I want to grow up to be like her.”
TALIA VALERIOTE, 9
Costa Mesa
“My mom is my role model. She is nice. She is honest. She helps me with
my homework. She drives me to school everyday and picks me up. Sometimes
we even go shopping after school.” AURORA GARCIA, 9
