Red Wings outlast Stars

The scoring of Hunter Herrick and the goal tending of Matthew Eller

helped lead the Red Wings to 7-5 victory over the Stars in a Campbell

West Division opener at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington

Beach.

Herrick scored four goals - including his team’s first two - and also

assisted another goal, and Eller was in on 23 saves.

Other players getting into the scoring act for the Red Wings were Stephen

Marchand, Ryan Gallegos, and Justin Pederson, each of whom scored once.

Gallegos also assisted two goals.

For the Stars, Kevin Caskey scored three goals, Dean Neugebauer and Kyle

MacLeod each scored once, and Michael Kompleski picked up an assist.

In other West Division games:

Thrashers 2, Hurricanes 0

Sam Slosman scored off a Brett Morinaka assist in the second period and

the two traded roles in the third quarter, with Morinaka scoring off a

Slosman feed, as the Thrashes blanked the Hurricanes.

Christian Allen had 22 saves in goal for the Hurricanes.

CAMPBELL EAST DIVISION

Menehune 4, Avalanche 2

Rebecca Koppel scored two goals, both Craig Landon and Megan Ferrer

scored once, Austin Shannon had an assist, and goalie Nicholas Capriccio

had 19 saves for the Menehune; Garrett Haar and James Newman both scored

and goalie Daniel Ane recorded 23 saves to lead the Avalanche.

Blackhawks 3, C2C Rinkrats 2

Conner Parks, Scott Cassidy, and Brad Giczewski all scored and Colin Bill

had an assist to power the Blackhawks; Dylan Nelson and Kyle Merrick each

scored, and goalie Aaron Sylla stopped 19 shots for the C2C Rinkrats.
