PARENTING CLASSES
The Fountain Valley School District will offer a series of courses on
parenting, starting Wednesday with Christine Honeyman leading a class
titled “Anger Management,” designed to help parents help their children
deal with emotions.
The class will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Talbert Middle School, 9101
Brabham Drive.
From 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 25, Honeyman will offer a Media Literacy course
that will teach parents how to protect their children from the pressures
caused by advertising, TV, radio, and movies.A third class will be
offered from 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 14 in Tamura Elementary School’s
multipurpose room, 17340 Santa Suzanne. The class will be an interactive
review session that will include parents and children. Families will have
an opportunity to express any problems.
All classes will offer interpretation in Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese and

The Business Academy of Ocean View High School will be featured at the
Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce’s January Winners’ Circle Breakfast
at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the SeaCliff Country Club, 6501 Palm Ave.
Academy co-chairman Roger Keating will be the featured speaker at the
event. He is a graduate of USC, where he earned his bachelor’s degree and
a master’s degree in business administration.
The Business Academy is entering its seventh year as one of only 23 such
organizations in the state. There are 95 students in the club.
The three-year program begins during the students’ sophomore year and is
in addition to the standard high school curriculum.
Some of the club’s emphasis is on college, computer classes, career
speakers, mentoring and intern experiences.
Registration for the Business Academy class of 2003 will take place in
March. Students will be given applications in their freshman English
classes.
