team upsets Back Bay rival Corona del Mar, 56-46. Bob Priestley, who

scores 11 points, makes two key baskets at the end for the Sailors. Joel

Owen leads CdM with 12 points.

Estancia’s boys basketball team crushes its rival Costa Mesa, 71-42.

Chris Candlish scores 16 to lead the Eagles, and Mike Montoya has 11 for

the Mustangs.

Estancia’s girls basketball team also defeats Costa Mesa, 50-45, to snap

the Mustangs’ 32-game Pacific Coast League winning streak. Cyndi Richards

leads the Eagles with 20 points, while Corri Lurmann scores 16 for Mesa.

Newport Harbor’s girls basketball team defeats CdM, 59-34. Andree

Verhulst scores 20 for the Tars. Lindsay Warmington’s 16 points is not enough for the Sea Kings.

Justin Kerr pulls off a hat trick to lead Newport Harbor’s boys soccer

team to a 4-1 win over CdM. Ryan Hritz scores the only goal for the Sea

Kings.

Estancia’s boys soccer team beats Costa Mesa, 3-0, as Armando Quinones

scores two goals. Carlos Loza had to make seven saves for the Mustangs.

Newport Harbor’s Jason Deere wins the heavyweight division championship

at Estancia’s wrestling tournament against John Glenn’s Willie Hernandez,

2-1.

Corona del Mar’s boys basketball team hangs on against Newport Harbor for

the 57-54 win. Warren Johnson and Jeff Jackson lead the Sea Kings with 18

and 16 points, respectively. Paig Parish scores 14 for the Sailors.

Estancia’s boys basketball team defeats University, 86-62, as Guty

Heredia scores 28 points for the Eagles.

Costa Mesa’s girls basketball teams squeaks by against CdM, 39-36. Rachel

Ward scores 12 and Olivia DiCamilli 11 for the Mustangs.

Newport Harbor’s girls basketball team also knocks off CdM, 44-33. Stacey

Giem scores 28 to lead the Sailors.

Southern California College comes back to defeat Occidental, 72-58, at

the Tigers’ tournament. John Mounce, who had 13 points in the game, is

named tournament MVP.

Estancia’s boys soccer team upsets Saddleback, 3-0. Gary Burrows and

Carlos Alcazar gets the Eagles’ first two goals within 10 minutes.

CdM’s girls soccer team crushes Saddleback, 9-1. Susie Peters, Tracy

Schriber and Kristin Borland each score two for CdM.

CdM girls volleyball standout Danielle Everett is named an All-American

by o7 Volleyball Magazinef7 .
