IN BRIEF
Employees of the Newport Beach-based investment management company PIMCO
turned their holiday celebration plans into charitable donations this
season, giving $50,000 that would have been used for an elaborate party
to 10 local charities.
“This was a good way to spread some of the wealth,” said Roni Trinidad,
vice president of human resources for the company.
The money was divided equally among the 10 groups, which included
organizations like Court-Appointed Special Advocates and the AIDS
Services Foundation of Orange County.
Trinidad said PIMCO’s approximately 500 employees still managed to have a
holiday party, but it was on a smaller scale than it might otherwise have
been.
“The backing we got from the employees and the enthusiasm was really
heartwarming,” she said.
