The Costa Mesa and Mesa Verde branches of the Orange County Public
Library recently received 19 state-of-the-art computers.
In response to the branches’ need for updated computer hardware, the
library system will undergo somewhat of an “electronic face-lift.” The
system will be switched from the old-school text-based computer system to
the more popular, graphics-based Windows system.
The two branches are the first to receive the new workstations.
The Costa Mesa branch installed 11 computers, four of which will have
Internet access. The Mesa Verde Branch Library installed eight computers,
three with Internet access.
Patrons of the library will now have a more user-friendly computer with
which to search the library’s holdings.
Internet workstations will provide patrons better access to the library’s
online database subscriptions, which offer a wealth of information on a
variety of subjects including business, health and literature.
