Girls basketball: CdM rips Rancho, 61-16

MISSION VIEJO - Corona del Mar High freshman Jackie McCoy scored a
career-high 16 points and the Sea Kings scored the first 22 points of a
61-16 girls basketball pool play victory over Rancho Alamitos in the
Mission Viejo Tournament Friday at Mission Viejo High.
Sophomore Andrea Gruber added eight points and Charlene Quon seven, while
four other CdM players had six to help Coach Elbert Davis’ squad improve
to 5-3.
Kristen McCoy had 10 rebounds for the Sea Kings, who would play Estancia
for the championship if Sonora lost to Bonita Vista in Friday’s late
game. The title game is tonight at 5 p.m.
If Sonora wins, CdM meets Whitney in the 3 p.m. third-place game.
