Girls water polo: Sailors roll, twice

VILLA PARK - Newport Harbor High’s girls water polo team scored

early and often in its first two games of the 24-team Villa Park

Tournament, winning, 15-4, against Fountain Valley and 19-2 over

Whittier.

In game one against the Barons, Katherine Belden scored five goals,

while Jenna Murphy added three goals for the Sailors.

Erin Ball and Kyndra Cox each combined for three goals and eight

assists in the win over the Barons.

In game two against Whittier, Murphy led the team with six goals,

while Belden and Cox each added four for the Sailors. The threesome also

combined for 13 assists in the game-two win.

The Sailors continue play in the Villa Park Tournament today.
