NMJAAF: Midget Seahawks claim first-ever Friendship Bowl
FOUNTAIN VALLEY - The Newport-Mesa Junior All-American Midget
Seahawks won the first-ever East Coast-West Coast Friendship Bowl with a
35-29 triple overtime win over the Massapequa Mustangs of Long Island,
New York.
Quarterback Matt Encinias rushed for two touchdowns, including the
winning touchdown in the third overtime for the win.
Encinias also threw three touchdown passes, two to Brian Campos and
one to Travis Winrow.
The Seahawks held the Mustangs scoreless in the first quarter, led by
Joevany Cueva, Luis Gonzales, Luis Gudino, Sam Matlin, Chris Wade, Brian
Wase, Zach Wishengrad, Bo Burgess, Chris Channing, R.J. Martin, Eric
Curtis, Sylvester Langrine, Mike Puentes and Tim McCullough.
The All-conference game for the Newport-Mesa Seahawk Midget team will
be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Cal State Fullerton.
