Blaze severely damages Westcliff home
Nearly 40 firemen responded when a house in the 200 block of North Star
Lane in Newport Beach caught fire Friday night.
No one was injured, fire officials said.
The fire caused approximately $40,000 in damage to the large two-story
house’s ceilings, roof and wood floors, fire officials said.
Neighbors called the fire department about 8 p.m. after they saw embers
floating from the roof.
Fire officials believe the fire was started by a spark that flew out of
the home’s chimney.
