AT ISSUE: Costa Mesa resident Mike Whitehead’s cable-access show
about boating hit national airwaves on Saturday. Local residents are
thrilled.
Score one for the locals! Good going Mike ... I know this show will be a
hit in Florida as well.

What a great idea! I think this is an exciting topic that will interest
boaters and water-lovers alike. I can’t wait to see the next show.

I just read the article in the Pilot (“Newport boat show sets sail
nationally tonight,” Nov. 27) about the TV show Boathouse going
nationwide. All I can say is it is about time. This show has been kept a
local secret much too long.

I loved reading about one of my favorite shows, “Boathouse TV.” My
boyfriend and I make a special point to see every show. We have recorded
most of the episodes and we bring those tapes to our yacht club to share
with other members. Captain Mike is my nephew’s idol. He thinks that
Captain Mike walks on water. Anybody who enjoys boating will want to hear
about more “Boathouse TV” news. Looking forward to the next “Boathouse
TV” story.

Glad to see you finally giving some column space for a local boy who has
found a niche that needs to be addressed. Captain Mike offers quality
information and clear instructions, all delivered in his easygoing,
articulate and quite often humorous style.
I would like to point out that as exciting as it is for Mike to be on the
brink of sharing his show on the national level, you should also mention
the books he has written, which are invaluable, particularly to the
novice boat enthusiast. Thanks again for the great news about Mike!
