FRESNO - J.W. Mitchell of Newport Beach remains in critical
condition at a Fresno hospital after a racing accident last week,
according to the University Medical Center in Fresno.
Mitchell, 56, suffered serious head injuries after colliding with another
car and hitting a retaining wall during a midget-car race at Kings
Speedway in Hanford.
Mitchell was taken to University Medical Center where he has remained in
a coma for several days.
A UMC spokesperson could not confirm if Mitchell is still in a coma, only
that he is in the intensive care unit at the hospital and is in critical
