Laguna marks summer’s arrival with Fête de la Musique

Laguna Beach celebrated the start of summer with the 10th annual Fête de la Musique on Saturday.
The festival, presented by the Laguna Beach Sister Cities Assn., featured musicians, singers and other performers at 52 locations around downtown. The event started at Main Beach with a children’s parade and the Swing Set band playing swing and jazz tunes.
Nearly half the performers were returnees, including the Budrows, with their washboard sounds, and the Montones, with their island-inspired melodies.
Laguna’s Fête de la Musique, using a concept that began in France in the 1980s, celebrates the arrival of summer and the city’s relationship with Menton, France, one of its three sister cities. The others are San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, and St. Ives, England.
