Laguna approves temporary live-music permit for Coast Highway restaurant

The Laguna Beach Planning Commission has approved a temporary live-music permit for Dizz’s As Is, a Coast Highway restaurant surrounded by residential homes.
Though some neighbors wrote and told the commission Thursday that they were worried about the noise coming from the restaurant at 2794 S. Coast Hwy. — one woman said it was so bad said she could hear the dishes clanking and another complained of past, un-permitted outdoor music — the commission approved the permit on a three-month trial basis.
Members stipulated that music could be performed by up to two performers indoors and only on Wednesdays. Dizz’s would be subject to a monthly review during the trial period. The matter is scheduled to return to the commission in three months.
Dizz’s owner, Dominic Pitz, said the music will be amplified but generally of a quieter, ambient nature, such as blues, jazz or classic soft rock.
“I’m here to create a little something for the locals,” Pitz said.
