Those venturing down the Balboa Peninsula Saturday should expect to see muscle cars, street rods and many classic car enthusiasts.

Newport Elementary School Foundation is hosting its second annual car show at the Newport Beach campus, 1327 W. Balboa Blvd., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Proceeds will contribute to extra teachers, extended library hours, supplemental art, math, writing and physical education programs and staff development, said Shelly Walshe, president of the Newport Elementary School Foundation.

The show, which will also include food trucks and music, is free to the public.

A 1950 Estate Woody Wagon, a 1965 Volkswagen Bus, a 1932 Ford Deuce Coupe and a 1928 Ford T-Bucket will be on display. The foundation has reached out to more than 80 classic car owners for the event.

“This is an amazing opportunity for our community to showcase this unique and historic school,” Walshe said. “It has been a jewel on the sand for over 100 years.”
