Volunteers are in the pink to fight breast cancer

Community members donned bright-pink tutus Thursday to try to drum up excitement for the upcoming Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Orange County in Newport Beach.
They gathered at the Pacific Life building near Fashion Island, where the 5K run/walk will be held Sept. 28 as a fundraiser for breast cancer research, treatment and outreach. Many were holding promotional signs with phrases like “I tutu for impact.”
Pictures of the event were posted on social media with the hashtag #OCTutuTour. Some participants paused for a snapshot as they did a plié, or knee bend, and others clutched their signs overhead and leaped into the air.
