A large contingent of police officers and at least eight cars responded to an apartment complex at Bear Street and Paularino Avenue in Costa Mesa on Friday afternoon after a call about a possibly suicidal man, according to authorities.
Officers tried to talk to the man, who had barricaded himself inside a home, but he was despondent, a police source said.
When police entered the apartment, they found one man with a gunshot wound, Sgt. Mike Cohen said.
Authorities are still investigating and declined to release more information, including the man’s condition.
