Streets closed for maintenance

Streets in the Temple Hills and Arch Beach Heights areas will be temporarily closed in the next four weeks while crews apply a protective coating of slurry seal, according to a news release.

Residents will be notified by door hangers seven days in advance of street closures.

Slurry seal is applied to pavement to prevent oxidation and moisture intrusion and is made up of a combination of asphalt emulsion, sand, rock and dust, according to the city of Laguna Beach’s website.

Slurry seals are applied to streets that are basically in good condition with the intent to extend the pavement life and improve long-term performance.

In most cases, a freshly-sealed street is safe to walk on one hour after applying the coat, and OK to drive on after four hours.

Project scheduling information is posted on the city’s website at lagunabeachcity.net.
